What game do I need to play this?
Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare Remastered (2017), or "MWR" for short. You do NOT need to own MW2 or MW2CR. You can purchase a copy from here:

Will my repack of the game work?
We do not endorse piracy and will not help you fix issues with an illegitimate copy of the game. The Steam copy provides all the necessary, up-to-date files to run HMW without issue.
Why does nothing happen when I open the launcher / my game executable is not being detected?
Extract all the files from the .zip archive before trying to open the launcher; ensure the game directory in the settings panel points to the folder where h1_mp64_ship.exe is. If this does not work, close the launcher, delete launcher_settings.json, reopen the launcher, then reselect game directory. If this does not work either, try launching the game from hmw-mod.exe directly.
Why do I have no 'Verify game files button' / the 'Play' button is greyed out / all text is overlapping?
Click on the cog button at the top right corner of the launcher, then 'Select Install Directory'. Navigate to your MWR directory, then finally click 'Finish and Save'. You should be able to verify your files now.
My launcher says it's out of date, but then it closes and nothing happens?
Manually download the latest version of the launcher from the Download page, then follow the installation procedure from there.
Why do I get a 'missing eng_code_post_gfx_mp file' error?
Change the language of the game to English or Spanish from the following location: Right-click MWR on Steam > Properties... > Language.
Why do I get a 'File size mismatch, bad game files' error?
Your pirated copy of the game provided you with outdated files. Purchase the game legitimately to obtain an up-to-date base game.
Why do I get an 'Access to path is denied' error?
If you installed MWR through the Microsoft Store, you will not have the TrustedInstaller permissions required to modify the game files. Otherwise, ensure you are running the launcher as an Administrator, and that the directory is NOT in Read-only mode in folder Properties.
Why do I get a 'Fatal error (0xC0000005)' error?
Windows 11 users must add an exception for hwm-mod.exe inside Program settings under their Exploit Protection module, which can be found in Settings > Windows Security > App & browser control > Exploit protection settings; specifically, 'Control Guard (CFG)' and 'Force Randomization for images (Mandatory ASLR)' must be set to OFF.
Where do I find the latest favorites.json file?
The H2M method of seeing servers in the server browser via favorites.json is no longer relevant, as HMW fixes the online source for all servers. Simply ensure you are running the latest version of the mod.
Why do I only see one / four / no servers in the browser at all?
Change your server source to 'Internet' by clicking on the 'Filter Servers' button at the bottom of the server browser. If that does not work, your mod is out of date. Grab the latest launcher off the Download page, then verify the files to get up-to-date ones.
Why is my file verification stuck / giving me a 522 or a 404 error?
Try changing to a different download server from launcher settings panel.
Why has my progress been reset after updating the game?
Head into the \...\players2\user\ folder inside the game directory, then delete hmwcdta and hmwdta. Rename h2mcdta and h2mdta (your old stat files) to hmwcdta and hmwdta respectively.
Why are my killcams laggy?
This happens when your FPS is too high. Limit in-game FPS by inputting the com_maxFps 250 command into the in-game console (opened with ~).
Why do my weapons not show up on the class creation screen?
Under Options > Graphics > Video, lower the FOV slider to less than half.
Why can I not look up while using MnK?
This is a base MWR issue. Disable any programs that make use of external audio drivers such as NVIDIA Broadcast, VoiceMeeter, or Ableton. If that does not work, go to Windows Settings > Sound > Sound Control Panel > Right-click and Disable any unused device under the Playback tab.
Why are my throwing knives javelins, and why does using them boot me from the lobby with an error message?
These are remnants of the old H2M mod interfering with your HMW install. Navigate to your zone folder inside the game directory, then delete any files or folders that have the h2m prefix.
Nothing I tried helped, can I still somehow make this work?
1) Verify your MWR files through the Steam Library (Right-click > Properties... > Installed Files > Verify integrity of game files).
2) Turn off third-party antiviruses and VPNs, then reverify game files.
3) Make sure your game directory does not contain Cyrillic letters and does not contain the word 'h2m' in it.
4) Delete the h2m-mod and hmw-mod folders from the following directory: C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local.
5) Delete hmw_pre_gfx or h2m_pre_gfx from \...\hmw-mod\zone , then verify the files through the launcher again.
